Thanks to a collaboration between a hillclimb organizer and landscape photographer, you can actually wear the famous Macclesfield hills that are to be raced up throughout the summer hillclimb season. This amazing image was captured on the -5°c morning of Nov 25th 2023 by Bartosz Lukasik and features the light-trails of Bhima Bowden's bike as he meanders towards the summit.
Bhima: "As I saw the scale of the landscape here, it highlighted the bigger picture to me: we often fear the challenges of the terrain as bike racers, yet we always overcome it."
The Polish blood in Bartosz allowed him to trek for an hour over thick ice to get to the prime spot just before dawn. With the photo he had dreamed of in front of him, his cold fingers set up the camera. "As soon as Bhima's lights appeared in the distance, tracking through the landscape, history was made."
